The origins of Physician Practice Resources, Inc. date back to 1995 when Dr. B. W. Ruffner began an organization to manage and bill for the academic practices based at Erlanger Medical Center. After a few years it became clear that the academic practices were going to become hospital practices. Dr. Ruffner engaged William H. Taylor II, CPA, MBA to guide the organization toward providing services to independent practice physicians.
In 2005, Physician Practice Resources was organized to take over and expand the organization begun in 1995. Dr. Ruffner was right in that virtually all of the academic practice business was taken over by the hospital. However, despite this loss, PPR has tripled in size. The eighteen people in our central office have over 350 years of combined experience in healthcare operations and billing. Because we staff a number of our client offices, we have over 80 employees. Because we are not affiliated with any healthcare system, we work only for our clients’ success.
Physician Practice Resources has the experience, the depth of resources, and economies of scale to enable the solo and small group practice to survive, even thrive, independently in today’s healthcare environment. If physicians want to stay in control of their practice and stay independent, Physician Practice Resources is the option.
